Will you join us? (AKA Ode to Our Men)

December 14, 2007 at 3:19 pm (our men)

It’s been a brief moment since the last post, because I had to figure out just what to say next.  I figured out that this event is so very important.  There some men in my life, and I am sure in yours, that are fighters.  They get up every day and try to make someone life better, even if its just their own.  So how then do we continue to celebrate the “gangsters,” the hustlers, the individual bringing not ONE DROP of edification to our culture, ethnic, global or otherwise.   It’s time to pause and applaud those that desire to do it right.  Will you join us?  Will you be a part of a landmark, history-making event that will be talked about for months (and Sundays) to come?  Will you make a commitment to the great black men in your personal and professional spaces that make you smile, whose presence you anticipate and whose life your admire.  This is your chance to be a part of a true celebration!

why the black man?

December 3, 2007 at 8:48 pm (our men) (, , , , , , , , )

Since going covertly public with the theme for “Celebration in Black” I have been asked a few times, “why the black man?” My answer is simple…because we need him. Mind you, I am not just talking about ANY black man. I am talking about the brothers who get up every morning with a drive to succeed and to be the best at what they do. The ones who know how to treat a woman, and only seek out a woman who is intellectually equipped, not just physically. That’s the black man I am talking about celebrating. Interestingly enough, he is the black man, all black MEN can be…

As a people, the black man is integral, and hence why he is a target. How do you have a black family, without a strong black man? You don’t. You have people just “doing something.” You have young men who can’t “be a man…if they don’t see a man.”

But fear not, we are here to celebrate you–your trials and your tribulations. We will applaud your successes and what you have done; the obstacles that you have overcome and the ones you are facing now.

We will start in February 2008, but we will not stop–you deserve our adoration 24/7, 365.

February 23, 2008- SAVE THE DATE! It’s time for The MANPAN. Black men discussing black men, black love, and everything else we can get them to talk about.

Celebration in Black (CIB), an exclamation points experience...is an intellectually-stimulating program of cultural achievement and social impact held during Black History Month.

CIB is for individuals who want to be a part of something different.  It’s an opportunity to come together with other conscious people and have an intellectual conversation.  Let’s discuss a few things…let’s make a difference…let’s leave with a different mindset than we had before…let DO SOMETHING.

This year, it’s all about the black man…so get yourself ready- celebrate a brotha today, and get yourself to The ManPan on Fenruary 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. for a CELEBRATION & INTERROGATION you will not forget.
