why the black man?

Since going covertly public with the theme for “Celebration in Black” I have been asked a few times, “why the black man?” My answer is simple…because we need him. Mind you, I am not just talking about ANY black man. I am talking about the brothers who get up every morning with a drive to succeed and to be the best at what they do. The ones who know how to treat a woman, and only seek out a woman who is intellectually equipped, not just physically. That’s the black man I am talking about celebrating. Interestingly enough, he is the black man, all black MEN can be…

As a people, the black man is integral, and hence why he is a target. How do you have a black family, without a strong black man? You don’t. You have people just “doing something.” You have young men who can’t “be a man…if they don’t see a man.”

But fear not, we are here to celebrate you–your trials and your tribulations. We will applaud your successes and what you have done; the obstacles that you have overcome and the ones you are facing now.

We will start in February 2008, but we will not stop–you deserve our adoration 24/7, 365.

February 23, 2008- SAVE THE DATE! It’s time for The MANPAN. Black men discussing black men, black love, and everything else we can get them to talk about.
