It’s almost time!

Actually, let’s be honest and admit that its overdue. I hear so many people talking about what black men don’t do and should do, that it’s amazing any of them do anything at all.

It’s almost time for the event, but it is beyond time for us to celebrate the good in our community, for us to hold up our men that are striving each day to make things work and say, “brotha, I got your back.” Instead we have let systems of pure nonsense, indubitable misogyny and other negative overtones take their place on our collective psyche. Sadly, we, sistahs, think that we’re winning, but the reality is that some of us wouldn’t know a great black man if he hit us upside the head and “here I am!”

So?

So…if we fail to identify with our men, we fail to identify with ourselves. Again, there is no black family without a black man…dont’ you realize the position that he holds in our culture?

But, you have the chance to redeem yourself. Come out and support THESE brothas on February 23rd. They have risen to the occasion and have conceded to make themselves available for your celebration (and interrogation). If you are honest with yourself, you will probably find that about 90% of your questions about balck men are answered by black women…so the cycle continues.

But we can change all that on February 23, 2008.

I once again declare this event life-changing…for all of us!

***One more thing: In case you need further incentive to come out, we are giving away a VACATION FOR 2 at the event…so go ahead and tell Bonquisha and ‘nem that yall are going to the Shrine on next Saturday to see the men and get you a trip!***
